Chamber and The Biz Foundry Bring Contractor Business Bootcamp Back to Livingston on November 14

Free one-day training on the business side of the trades is limited to 40 seats, and registration is now open

The Livingston/Overton County Chamber of Commerce and The Biz Foundry, the Upper Cumberland's regional entrepreneur center, are bringing Contractor Business Bootcamp back to Livingston on Saturday, November 14, after the first session in March drew more than fifty registrations. The free one-day training on the business side of the trades will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Chamber office, 222 East Main Street.

The bootcamp is built for people who are skilled at their trade but want help with the business side of the work, and it covers the practical side of running a trade business, including customer communication, financial management, job pricing, and business structure, with sessions taught by local professionals. It is open to established contractors and subcontractors, tradespeople who are just starting out, and students in trades programs who are preparing to enter the workforce.

"The response to our first bootcamp told us there is a real need for this kind of training in Overton County, and we're glad to be bringing it back," said Zach Stephens, President & CEO of the Livingston/Overton County Chamber of Commerce. "When local contractors and small business owners have strong financial management, proper licensing, and professional systems in place, they can grow their operations, hire more employees, and contribute to our local economy. These businesses keep dollars circulating in our community and create the quality jobs we need to retain talent."

Doors open at 8:30 a.m. with breakfast, and lunch is provided. There is no cost to attend, but registration is required and seating is limited to 40 participants, with a waitlist available once those seats are filled.

"If you are skilled at your trade but need help with the business side, this program is designed specifically for you," Stephens said.

Registration is open online through The Biz Foundry here, and anyone with questions can contact the Chamber at 931-823-6421.

The bootcamp is part of the Chamber's ongoing entrepreneurship partnership with The Biz Foundry, which is supported by ThreeStar grant funding from the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development, and an additional session is planned for January.
